Overview:
Incorporated in 1985, Masspro is a performance improvement organization, dedicated to improving the safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of health care provided to residents in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and nationally. For more than 25 years, Masspro has focused on the three goals of transforming the health care delivery system, improving patient safety, enhancing care effectiveness, and promoting transparency. Masspro develops and delivers innovative solutions across the full continuum of patients, providers, purchasers, payers, treatment settings (hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies and physician offices), and associations representing these segments.
Masspro’s core services include clinical quality measurement/pay for performance solutions, health information technology support, clinical system redesign, data aggregation and analysis, education and outreach, utilization review and beneficiary protection services. A highly skilled team of physicians, performance improvement advisors, nurses, biostatisticians, information technology professionals, case reviewers, certified coding experts and clinical educators deliver these services. Masspro has extensive experience leading and coordinating projects for clients such as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS), private payers, and selected delivery systems.
Current projects:
- Medicare Quality Improvement Organization – focusing on CMS initiatives to improve individual patient care through the reduction of health care associated conditions and infections; improve care across transitions to reduce preventable hospital readmissions; improve primary care physicians’ rates for immunizations, cardiovascular health care and use of electronic health records for the physician quality reporting system; and Medicare beneficiary protection services, including case review, and quality of care reviews.
- Development and operation of Medicaid’s hospital pay for performance (P4P) program, using clinical information provided through state-of-the art portal technology. Measures were developed by Masspro, and are specific to the Medicaid population.
- EOHHS contract for utilization review services for chronic/rehabilitation services – pre-approval and retrospective medical necessity reviews.
- National Health Information Technology Research Center (HITRC) consultant helping to identify and share best practices in electronic health record adoption, meaningful use, and provider support.
- Massachusetts pandemic program training – development and dissemination of educational materials for providers and the public to reinforce the importance of influenza and pneumococcal vaccination.
- Adult immunization services – leadership in increasing adult immunization rates in Massachusetts, particularly in the areas of influenza and pneumonia.
