Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI)
Overview:
The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) is an independent not-for-profit organization helping to lead the improvement of health care throughout the world. Founded in 1991 and based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, IHI works to accelerate improvement by building the will for change, cultivating promising concepts for improving patient care, and helping health care systems put those ideas into action.
IHI develops and nurtures will, energizing a movement for profound change in healthcare by encouraging providers to cooperate and share lessons learned, by identifying gaps that need to be closed, and by helping the public understand the improvement that is needed and possible. IHI also disseminates improvements across the world, develops innovative solutions, and helps build the future healthcare workforce.
